Controllers

Advanced controller

Driving the illuminators with constant current, as opposed to constant voltage, allows best results in terms of acquired image repeatability. The controller has eight fully independent light channels.

Its functions allow precise configuration of the illuminator delay and pulse duration for easier synchronisation with the camera exposure times, thus satisfying the latest requirements of machine vision systems.

  • Compatible with most LED illuminators currently available on the market.
  • 8 independent current-controlled channels.
  • Ethernet and RS485 interfaces.
  • Pulsed current up to 20A per channel.
  • Communication with smart illuminators for access to operating parameters and diagnostic data.
  • Possibility to create programmable light sequences.
  • Possibility to automatically adjust the current for constant lighting.
  • Fully independent channels with separate power supplies.
  • Capacity to communicate with smart illuminators using a standard interface (RS485) with a standard protocol (Modbus/RTU).
  • Flexible and parametrisable internal logic network with basic and advanced functions to simplify the controller’s integration into the vision system.
  • Standard communication protocols that simplify communication with the machine.
  • Opto-isolated trigger and fault signals that simplify interconnection with the machine.
  • Protective functions that prevent damage to the controller due to overheating or to the illuminator due to overdrive.
  • Possibility to create personalised firmware to introduce new functions.
  • CB certification with US and Canadian deviations to simplify UL machine inspection.
  • Inspections with multiple vision stations.
  • Inspections where repeatability, lighting stability and controller reliability are essential.
  • Inspections where the controller parameters need to be frequently changed.

Applications

REPEATABILITY AND STABILITY

The controller guarantees the constancy and uniformity of the lighting. This is especially important when precise measurements are needed or when searching for defects on objects with reflective or complex surfaces.

INSPECTION MACHINES

The lighting parameters, such as intensity, colour temperature or light direction must be frequently adapted based on the specific inspection requirements or changes in production.

MULTIPLE VISION STATIONS

The controller plays a key role in synchronising the lighting. The controller must be able to manage complex lighting and acquisition sequences so as to maximise the efficacy of the inspection process.
